Flagstaff Gardens Tennis Courts
309-311 William St, West Melbourne VIC 3003, Australia, VIC
About Flagstaff Gardens Tennis Courts
Located in the heart of West Melbourne, these outdoor courts offer a unique multi-sport experience. The two hard courts are used for tennis, netball, volleyball, and even the unusual sport of bike polo on Friday nights. You'll find good lighting for evening games and the courts are accessible for players with disabilities.
The courts date back to the 1930s and are part of the historic Flagstaff Gardens area. Bookings are required through the Active Melbourne website, with rates around $20 per hour before 5pm and $30 after. The facility operates daily from 6am to 10pm.
Keep in mind these are multi-purpose courts, so you'll see lots of different colored lines painted on the surface. You might need to move some equipment like netball poles when you arrive. Public toilets are nearby, though not directly on-site.

There are 2 tennis courts here and they get frequent use. A good variety of sports are played on the courts and this week, for the first time, I saw cycle polo! What a fun sport to watch. Also the courts can be used at night as they have good lighting installed. There are no onsite amenties but there are amenities nearby that are unisex and accessibility friendly. Note this is a payment only venue and bookings can be made online.

There's 2 outdoor hard courts, paid, no walk-ins allowed. Bookings through Active Melbourne site (select The Hub at Docklands on the list), $20 per hour before 5pm, bout $30 per hour after 5pm. No toilets in the hired compound but there's a public toilet closeby. Able to night play as lighting available. Courts are in decent condition.

Average tennis courts but done the job with warm up training for 1 hour. Negative is it's used for multiple sports so many coloured lines are painted. You may need ten minutes to move items such as netball poles and roll the net into place which is not ideal if you are training with a junior as its way too heavy for them to help and annoying for one person to set up on own. If you are having more of a match play with others , there are better suited courts around that make you feel like you are playing tennis.

These courts were established way back in the 1930s. There are two hard courts with lights and these days they're often known as Flagstaff Gardens Multipurpose Courts because they're used for a range of sports other than tennis including team sports such as netball, volleyball, soccer and even bike polo played on modified bicycles which is truly an amazing sport to watch here. There's disabled access, and toilets. It's a great Melbourne sports venue!
