Review & Ratings Policy

The star ratings and user reviews displayed on Pickleball Australia listing pages are sourced from Google Places. They are written by members of the public on Google's platform and retrieved by us via the Google Places API.

We display this content to give players a sense of what others have experienced at a venue — supplementing the factual details (address, hours, court count) with real-world impressions. Review text is shown with the original author's display name as it appears on Google, in accordance with Google's attribution requirements.

We do not write, commission, or influence any of the reviews shown on this site. Pickleball Australia has no ability to add, edit, or remove individual Google reviews. If you believe a Google review is inaccurate or violates Google's policies, please report it directly through Google Maps.

We display Google reviews as-is. We do not selectively hide negative reviews or promote positive ones. We do not curate which reviews appear — the selection is determined by Google's API response, which typically surfaces the most recent or most relevant reviews for a place.

We do not moderate the content of individual reviews. Because these reviews live on Google's platform, not ours, content moderation decisions (removing spam, flagging policy violations) are Google's responsibility. Our display of a review does not constitute endorsement of its content.

Venue operators who have claimed their listing on this site can add their own description and factual information, but they cannot alter, hide, or respond to Google reviews through our platform. Responses to Google reviews must be made directly via Google Business Profile.

Reviews and ratings are fetched from Google periodically rather than in real time. This means the review count and aggregate star rating shown on a listing may lag behind the current figures on Google by days or weeks, depending on when the listing was last refreshed.

As a result, a venue's displayed rating here may differ slightly from the rating shown on Google Maps at the time you visit. We treat Google's own platform as the authoritative source; if you want the most current rating, check the venue on Google Maps directly.

Additionally, individual review text retrieved via the API represents a snapshot from when we last fetched data. New reviews posted since that fetch will not appear until the next refresh cycle.

Reviews represent individual opinions at a point in time. A venue's quality, facilities, staffing, and management can change. A strong rating from two years ago does not guarantee the same experience today, and a poor rating from the past may not reflect the venue's current state.

We recommend using reviews as one input among several — not as the sole basis for choosing where to play. Checking a venue's own website, social media, or calling ahead will give you the most current picture.

Pickleball Australia is not responsible for the accuracy, completeness, or appropriateness of individual reviews sourced from Google. We are not liable for any decisions made in reliance on third-party review content displayed on this site.

If you believe a review displayed on a listing is defamatory, false, or otherwise harmful, your first step should be to flag it on Google Maps, where the review actually lives. Google's content policies govern what is permissible on their platform.
